Ballet-inspired clothing is taking over athleisure. Look like you just got done with barre class with these ballerina-chic pieces.
In 2020, the popularity of athleisure soared. With everyone stuck at home, who needed to wear jeans? In the last year or two, the style of athleisure has totally evolved. Ballet athleisure is here in full force! Pastel color palettes and flowy dreamy silhouettes have taken over my timeline. You’ll want to look like you just got back from your morning barre workout and are running some errands at Whole Foods. One of the best parts of the ballerina style is that it’s super mix and match! Any of the pieces here are super easy to mix around and since all the colors are super neutral that means you get more outfits with each piece!
I have been wearing leg warmers so much more recently. They're nice because when I'm just lounging around the house in my pajamas (I like to sleep in shorts), I can throw them on and they make me warmer. They're also great to put on the arms under your big jacket for a colder day. They are super flattering on anybody and I feel like the longer they are, the more options you have! In my opinion, the slouchier the better! These are an essential part of the ballerina look. They usually throw them on over a pair of tights and a leotard. Perfect for warming up!
Tights are perfect to pair with the leg warmers that I mentioned before. These are convertible so you can wear them as full footed tights or you can roll them up to your ankle, which I didn't even know existed. The tights and leg warmer combo is super flattering on anyone's legs and make them look naturally longer. The ballerina color palette is also undefeated. I love the black, white, baby pink, and nude colors that these tights come in.
A ballerina's wardrobe is pretty modular. Pieces can be easily taken off or put back on based on the needs of the dancer. Wrap skirts are a great example of that! They are super versatile and can go with any outfit. Pair it with a leotard, some tights, and some leg warmers and you have the perfect ballet outfit.
A wrap top is another example of a buildable wardrobe piece. If you get warm you can always take it off easily and throw it in your bag.
There are endless styles of leotards to choose from. There are short sleeves, spaghetti straps, halter, low and criss-cross backs, longsleeve, collared, etc. These are some of my favorites!
Unitards are so popular right in activewear! I've seen tons of people wear both the shorts version and the pants version. They're super popular with the "off-duty" supermodels and they fit perfectly with the ballerina aesthetic.
Another option to pair with tights and leg warmers is athletic shorts! Plus, you can wear them without the tights on warmer days!
Even though real ballerinas don't wear ballet flats for dancing, these shoes are perfect for the ballerina look on the go!
A nice big tote bag will hold all of your workout gear, or your laptop, makeup bag, etc. and makes a great carry-on!
Having a water bottle that keeps your water cold is essential. This pink bottle is so aesthetic and will keep you hydrated throughout the day!
One of the easiest ways to look like a ballerina is to do a chic slicked back bun! With this bun tool you can make French twists, buns, and other updos!
