Curl up on the couch with some hot apple cider, these fall rom-coms will make you *fall* in love!
One of the best parts about fall is getting into the fall spirit. And nothing makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside like a good fall rom-com! There is no greater joy than staying in on a crisp autumn day, bundling up in blankets, and watching a good movie. I've put together a list of the best fall rom-coms to watch every autumn!
Notting Hill is about a London bookstore owner who falls in love with a famous American actress. There is just something about a 90's rom-com that inherently has autumn vibes...
Practical Magic is the perfect movie to watch when you want something fall-ish but not too spooky! It's about two sisters who are witches living in a small town.
I watched When Harry Met Sally for the first time last week and I cried my eyes out at the end! It was so cute and has so many beautiful fall scenes of Central Park and New York City!
You've Got Mail is another Meg Ryan classic set in New York. Kathleen Kelly owns a small bookshop that is threatened when a large chain opens up down the street. The owner is Joe Fox whom Kathleen can't stand. Little does she know, they've been chatting to each other anonymously online and falling in love.
About Time is such an underrated movie! It's about a young man who finds out from his father that he can time travel. He uses his powers to be the kind of person he wants to be in his love life and he learns a lot about the meaning of life along the way. This movie is super sweet and so nostalgic to me.
Sleepless in Seattle is another classic rom-com about a grieving widower whose son calls into a radio station to find a new wife for his dad. You can't go wrong with a 90's Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan rom-com!
Love Story is a movie about two young lovers who try to build a life together after finding out one of them has a terminal illness. The cinematography in this movie is iconic, along with the soundtrack!
Sweet Home Alabama is about a fashion designer from New York City who gets engaged to the mayor's son and must visit her hometown in Alabama to get her stubborn first love to sign the divorce papers from their young marriage. This one is really sweet and is about who you were versus who you want to be.
This movie always makes me laugh because Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock have such great chemistry. When Margaret Tate is at risk of losing her upper position at her American job due to the fact that she is Canadian and is being deported, she hatches a plot to marry her assistant to get a green card. This movie has some really cool shots of Alaska and hits the right notes of warm/fuzzies and laughter.
Seriously, what is it about a 90's Julia Roberts movie that screams fall to me? Childhood best friends Julianne and Michael make a pact to get married at 28 if they're both still single. When that time approaches, Julianne is blindsided when Michael tells her he is engaged and getting married to someone else. She scrambles to figure out her feelings for Michael and fears him getting married will change their relationship.
Little Women may not technically be a rom-com, but there is plenty of romance and definitely a few laughs! My favorite fall scene is the scene where Laurie begs Jo to love him. It's the most heartbreaking yet gorgeous scene ever!
We're closing this list out with yet another Julia Roberts classic. Mystic Pizza is about a group of friends who work at their small town pizza shop the summer after graduating high school. You can't go wrong with a coming-of-age rom-com to go along with a crisp fall evening.
