Where did they film MTV's The Hills? Here's every single restaurant, club, and location featured on the show.
The Hills was such a pop culture phenomenon in its day. I remember watching it and thinking how different of a world it seemed. I was in middle school when The Hills was on and I feel like at that age you're always looking at people older than you and thinking how cool their lives are!
I rewatched the series a couple of years ago when I was the same age as a lot of the people on the show and it felt so nostalgic to me! There is something so cinematic about the filming of the show and the fashion, music, and general design of everything is so late 2000s it's not even funny. It's definitely like a weird time capsule.
Recently, I've been rewatching Laguna Beach (which was the show that preceded The Hills) and that has also been a trip. Both Laguna Beach and The Hills to me is such an era in reality TV. Nowadays people who go on reality television sort of know what they're in for, but back then everything seemed so honest. Of course, we later found out that a lot of it was prompted, but the spirit of the show always felt real.
Anyways, I rewatched every single episode of The Hills and found myself thinking: can I still get a drink at Les Deux? So I wrote down every single (for the most part) filming location for you guys. I also did some research into what is still open today so you can go visit some of these places next time you're in LA and want to do something fun!
Side note: When I started this post I actually couldn't believe how many different restaurants and clubs were featured on the show. This list is so long but it includes every single restaurant that is clearly depicted on the show (some places were not labeled or clearly shown).
Please keep in mind that this was all researched by me. I did the best I could but if you have any information to the contrary on any of these locations, feel free to let me know!
There were a small handful of locations from the entire show that I couldn't track down. A lot of these were personal residences or weren't really specified/labeled on the show. Overall, I think there's still a wealth of information here that should be helpful!
Let me know if you guys would like to see something like this for Laguna Beach! And if you liked this post and want to stay tuned for similar posts, feel free to subscribe to our newsletter. You can do so at the end of this post.
If you're wanting to do your own rewatch of The Hills, you can find every single episode on Hulu. You can also find all of Seasons 1 & 2 on Netflix currently. It looks like you can also watch all 6 seasons on Paramount+.
I will try to update this as I know streaming services are constantly changing which series you can watch on their platforms.
Here is a map of every single filming location separated by season. I provide a lot more information below for each restaurant so you can see what the closed locations turned into!
This list features filming locations from The Hills that were used over multiple seasons.

The LA Teen Vogue office is located in the Condé Nast building. It's an unmistakable white, tall building with lots of windows. The exterior was featured on the show a lot.

So on the show, Lauren and Heidi's original apartment is the subject of many different iconic scenes. Meeting Audrina by the pool, Lauren saying she wants to forgive and forget Heidi, Jason rushing after Lauren to kiss her by midnight. There are so many B roll scenes of the steaming hot tub and the exterior of the complex it almost feels like I've been there myself.
I believe Lauren and Heidi lived in an apartment in the complex and then switched to a different unit in the same complex for season 2 because in later scenes the living room is flipped. Just kind of a fun fact from my rewatch.
This is the tea...The apartment complex was never called the Hillside Villas. It was always called The Villas at Park La Brea. I think this was smart of production. I mean you don't really want to tell the whole world where young women are literally living.
It still exists today. If I were moving to LA I would think that's a pretty good spot. You know that if Lauren, Audrina, and Heidi lived there it's gotta be a really good central location for going out!
919 S Grand Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90015

Bolthouse still exists today, but it has since severed its ties with SBE, the entertainment company that they were working with on some new Las Vegas projects. It seems that Bolthouse has had multiple office locations since its inception, which makes sense as it was a growing company. In the show you can even see the upgraded offices as the seasons progress.
This office building to me seems like the most likely location that was used for filming. I'm not 100% but it looks familiar especially in the later seasons when Bolthouse started working with SBE. SBE and Bolthouse have both since moved.
This is the event production company where Heidi works in the show.

Audrina's work moved from season to season as far as I know. She was initially at Quixote, then Epic, then moved to Sony BMG. I'm not sure if Epic and Sony were different offices, but this looks like the filming location of a lot of work scenes with Audrina, especially in some of the later seasons.

When I wrote the beginning of this post, I didn't think there would be so many different clubs and restaurants featured. I pasted this all into Google Docs and it's over 50 pages long!
I have seasons 5 & 6 in progress and those locations should be added here and to the map sometime next week. To stay updated and to get the new seasons sent straight to your inbox, sign up for our newsletter below. We also send freebies and tons of cool content exclusive just to our newsletter subscribers, so it's kind of a no-brainer!
If there's anything to be learned from this post it's that the "hottest clubs" are really only hot for a period of time before something new pops up! Plus, it's tough to keep a restaurant open in LA.
Can you believe so many different businesses were featured on the show? It seems like such a great opportunity for promotion it would definitely be worth the hassle to have film cameras come shoot for a day.
Have you been to any of these locations? I'm not personally from Los Angeles but next time I'm in the area I will definitely check some of these spots out!
