Priscilla Presley's iconic outfits from the 60's/70's make for some awesome Halloween costume ideas!
It didn't take Baz Luhrmann's Elvis biopic for us to know that Elvis' wife Priscilla Presley served looks in the 60's/70's and was at the forefront of a changing fashion landscape. With her recognizable jet black hair styled in a bouffant and thick black eyeliner, Priscilla inspired generations to come with her bold beauty and style choices!
Because she was an icon of that time, and many of her outfits/features are recognizable, she makes for the perfect Halloween costume! And if you've got a date for your Halloween party, his costume is easy to figure out!
I've put together some of Priscilla's most memorable outfits of the 60's/70's from pieces I've found on Amazon for an easy and affordable Priscilla Presley Halloween costume!
Priscilla donned a few different looks over the years, but around the prime-time years when she and Elvis got married, she was seen mostly with jet black hair in a super teased beehive style. For most of these outfits the wig will be super important if you want your costume to be easily recognized. If you have dark hair, you might be able to get away with teasing, but to me a wig seems a lot easier to take off when the night is done!
Priscilla also sported some thick black eyeliner in a cat-eye shape! Any liquid liner will do.
"Hair is long and styled curly. The fit was great! People thought it really was my hair. No one asked me if it was a wig!"
"I've tried tons of eyeliners and this product rocks!"
Priscilla and Elvis were married in Las Vegas on May 1, 1967. The bride wore a long sleeve lace dress that she secretly picked out off the rack at a Las Vegas store! For this look, you'll want a big bubble veil paired with a crown. Make sure you wear a tease- up wig and black eyeliner. Add some glossy pink nails to finish!
"Exactly what my daughter was looking for. It looked beautiful with her dress."
"Well made. Beautiful! Sturdy."
"I love this dress. It fits, looks and feels exactly how I expected it would, It’s very elegant and beautiful."
"I got so many compliments on these nails. They look so natural and fit to the nail so well."
Immediately after Elvis and Priscilla's wedding ceremony, they jetted off to start their honeymoon in a private jet that Frank Sinatra allowed them to borrow. Priscilla chose a white shift dress with a black bow fastened to the front and some black pumps. She donned her wedding hair and makeup, of course!
"Nice and comfy dress, nice thin linen."
"Adds a nice touch to my outfits, especially around the holidays."
"Fit perfectly and are the cutest. Even have cushioning which I wasn't expecting."
"Just received and finally found exactly what I was wanting. Looks well made and sturdy. Can't wait to use it out!"
Lisa Marie Presley was born exactly 9 months after her parents' wedding on February 1, 1968. Elvis and Priscilla showed off their new baby, Priscilla in full hair and makeup, to adoring fans and cameras. Priscilla wore a pink suit and Elvis wore a blue turtleneck and navy sport jacket. To recreate this outfit, make sure you're holding a baby in a big white swaddle!
"I really like this set, it's very high quality and makes me look quite nice."
"This was a gift for one of my students! And she loved her gift so much!! Very happy."
"Bought to customize as a gift. Very soft and she loved it! Swaddles great as well."
In the late 60's, Priscilla was newly married to the biggest heartthrob in the world and she was always serving looks! One outfit that stands out in particular is her all-white fringe outfit with a mini skirt and gladiator sandals. Her signature teased hairstyle was still present, but definitely started to look a little more casual as they entered the 70's.
"Very versatile!"
"I love how soft this mini skirt is and I'm a plus size women and it feels so comfortable."
"Comfortable! You can make this show casual or classy depending on what you're wearing."
"I don't go out very often, but when I do this is my go to evening bag."
There is a legendary photo of Elvis sitting next to Priscilla as he is smoking a cigar and holding a staff. In this photo, Priscilla is sporting a two-tone purple number, and her eye makeup is a lot less dark. Her hair is less teased and a shade lighter than her signature jet black look. Priscilla has said that in the 70's, she really started to gain more of a sense of what her own personal style was. Plus, times were definitely changing!
"I absolutely love this shirt. It's gorgeous."
"I love these pants."
"I wanted a feminine simple cross with no bling. This is perfect and I wear it daily. It goes with everything!"
If you loved watching the Elvis movie this year, but you want to be something other than Priscilla, here is a bonus section!
If you're not wanting to go all out for Halloween this year, or just want to pick things that are already in your closet, pick a disco-ish dress and some platforms. Pair it with Elvis' signature sunglasses and you can be "Las Vegas Residency Elvis".
"This is a super cute romper. Very flattering."
"These boots were everything I wanted and more they are true to size so and comfortable for hours. Just buy them you won’t regret it."
"These are more true to what Elvis wore than what Graceland sells because Graceland's version has almost black lenses. These are a nice amber colored lens. Mine had no defect and are ready for Elvis cosplay."
If you liked Baz Luhrmann's Elvis film, this suit is from the beginning of Elvis' career. This could be good if you need a costume for your guy, or you can wear it! Pair it with some low-top platform boots and some jet black hair and you're good to go. Bonus points if you bring a guitar and learn some dance moves!
"The color is spot on and fits to a T. Very very well made."
"Very chic & comfortable!!!!"
Which Priscilla Presley outfit do you feel is the most iconic? I'll always love her wedding look...
