From the 50's to the 00's, these retro bikini styles stand the test of time.
As a lover of all things vintage, retro bikinis are my absolute favorite. It's so interesting to see what was popular in a certain year, and how styles have changed from decade to decade. There are so many flattering elements to swimwear from the past, and we have the benefit of cherry-picking all the best styles. Retro bikini styles are so good, they're coming back around! I'm sure you've noticed higher leg lines, body-hugging one pieces, and funky prints coming back into play. I've put together a list of all the vintage-inspired swimsuits that I seriously want to wear this summer, and maybe you'll find your next signature bikini! I even included swimsuit styles from almost every era so there's something for everyone!
I plan to do a roundup of some of my favorite vintage secondhand bikinis from eBay and Poshmark so stay tuned...
This one-piece has a classic 1950's silhouette. It also comes in the reverse colorway (white with little black polka dots). So cute!
This design has a bunch of color way options, all of which are so adorable. They even have cherries!
This two piece is darling. The navy and white polka dots are so classic, too!
Let's take it back to the 80's with this neon high-waist cut-out.
This plunging color block halter is EVERYTHING.
How fun is this suit?! You'll feel like Jane Fonda with this metallic high-leg one piece.
On Pinterest you will find a lot of 80's swimwear pieces that resemble this one piece. The pattern is so retro and the one shoulder design makes it flattering on all body types!
Get groovy with this funky flower pattern two piece.
This sunshine yellow print reminds me of the popular floral patterns of the 70's.
This matching mesh set has the coolest print. If Twiggy was a part of Gen Z, I could see her wearing this.
This is the set that Buffy The Vampire Slayer would wear for sure. Black 90's mesh? I'm in!
This halter cut-out is so chic and reminds me of editorials from the 90's.
The shape of this bikini reminds me of the classic high cut 90's suits, and the color is so timeless.
This suit reminds me so much of the Lilo & Stitch pattern, taking me back to the early 2000's!
This blue print is so 60's it's crazy.
Pastels and paisley print always remind me of the early 2000's! This bikini is such a great shape.
Another super nostalgic pattern, this blue set makes me feel like I'm on vacation.
This is one of the most universally flattering shapes ever! There's a reason why this little number has time traveled from the 80's. It's a style that's here to stay.
How FUN is this set?! I can see trends moving away from neutrals and into more colorful territory, especially for swimwear and this set is a prime example!
Okay, this 'kini has such a flattering element around the waist! So visually stunning!
I've been seeing these types of swimwear pieces trending lately: swim that looks like clothing! It's actually genius and I don't know why no one has really done it before. The top can basically double as a crop top, so it's a two for one!
I'm living for the reverse pattern on different parts of this suit. It's super eye-catching and polka dots are so retro!
This is one of my absolute favorites! So classic, I can see this style being popular years from now!
