Is 13 Going on 30 one of the cutest movies ever? Yep, and here's some quotes to prove it.
There are a few girly 2000s movies that get better every single time you watch them. 13 Going on 30 is one of those flicks and has to be on my list for favorite films of all time! It's kind of a two-in-one time capsule because it is originally set in the 80s and then moves back to 2004.
I don't know what it is, but there is a unique quality to 13 Going on 30 that makes me thoughtful, happy, sad, reflective and everything in between. It's uplifting and it makes me think about living in the moment and being more present. It is such a universal experience to want to grow up when you're a kid and then wish you could go back to being a kid when you finally get older.
The nicest part of this movie is it ends on a good note! I hope that doesn't spoil anything; I mean, it's been out for almost 20 years now!
13 Going on 30 is about a 13 year old girl named Jenna Rink who desperately wants to be older so she feels more beautiful and sophisticated. She makes a wish at her 13th birthday party and wakes up to discover she is now 30 years old! At first, Jenna is thrilled, but she soon realizes that being an adult isn't what it seems and she must grapple with the consequences of her life choices.
The plot is a similar structure to Big starring Tom Hanks if you've ever seen it!
13 Going on 30 was released on April 14, 2004.
As of right now, you can watch 13 Going on 30 on Max if you have a subscription. You can also rent it on Amazon Prime Video.

Fun fact! I never noticed this before, but when Jenna is looking through her mail right when she discovers she's now 30, there is a letter addressed to her from Sparkle magazine. If you pay attention, it gives away the twist at the end of the movie.
Jenna had been working with Sparkle and giving them all of Poise's good ideas. Well, not the present day Jenna, but the Jenna that was a part of the Six Chicks and stopped being friends with Matty.
Let me know if you catch this the next time you watch it!
What is your favorite quote from 13 Going on 30? Mine is when Jenna tells Matty she wants him to be so, so happy. It just makes me cry!
