You can get Elle Woods hair with this Amazon find. What, like it's hard?!
Everyone fell in love with Elle Woods from Legally Blonde because of her heart, determination, and kindness. But she also absolutely served some major looks in the film - including her memorable perfectly waved blonde hair. The title sequence of the movie even shows Elle brushing her hair with a pink hairbrush and her french manicured nails.
For years I've wondered how Elle achieved her bombshell hair, and I finally feel like I cracked the code. Here's what you need to know.
Legally Blonde is a beloved franchise, with many hopeful fans eagerly awaiting the promised Legally Blonde 3. The release date for the film has been pushed back multiple times, and no new updates are in the works. Unfortunately, we may have to wait a little longer to see Elle, Bruiser, and Emmett back up on the big screen.
But that doesn't stop us from imagining what kinds of hairstyles Elle would be wearing in present day.
Looking at stills from Legally Blonde, Elle seems to have long layers with hair past her shoulders. She frequently wears it straight, curly, wavy, and half up. Her hair is a bright blonde with slight darkness at her roots.
If you're looking to get a similar haircut to Elle's, I would tell your hairdresser you want long layers and a trim up to your chest. You want the shortest layer to your collarbone. And yes, brunettes can definitely do this too!
Elle does wear many different hairstyles in the movie, but my personal favorite (and the one that sticks out the most in my mind) is her bouncy, brushed out curl look. She wears this look on her date with Warner in the beginning of the movie and then again in her final day in court. I think it's symbolic for Elle to be wearing the same hairstyle in both scenes as it shows how far she has come from the girl she used to be.
There are probably a few different ways to achieve this style, but my personal favorite is hot rollers! I will forever be a hot roller kind of girl - they are so easy and fast to use and they make your hair the prettiest!
If you've never used hot rollers before, don't fret, they're actually super easy to use. I'll walk you through it.
I bought these hot rollers just for this look:
"Been using these for over a decade and use them every day. I get compliments on my hair multiple times a day and my coworkers use my hair as my identifier when people are looking for me."
I have another set of hot rollers and I kept holding off on buying a new set because I figured the old ones worked just fine, but I realized that just like curling irons, the size of your rollers can change everything. My other set is "jumbo" in size so they are approximately 1.5" each.
These new rollers are 1.25" and 1" rollers, creating a more defined curl rather than looking like you just got a blowout!
To get Elle's look, heat up the curlers and section your hair. Most of Elle's curly looks actually have the curls going towards her face so when you're adding the rollers on the front pieces, make sure you're wrapping in that direction. I would alternate between a large roller and a small roller to get a variation in curl size.
Here is a video on the basics of hot rollers that I found to be helpful:
Make sure to leave the rollers in as long as possible. My hair has trouble holding a curl, so I'll usually put them in before doing my makeup and take them out right before I leave the house.
Elle's hair is also pretty straight on the sides, so don't worry about teasing the hair too much.
When you take the rollers out, make sure your hair is cool. Lightly brush your hair starting with the bottoms and moving toward the top. Do not overbrush. Take a hair oil and place on the ends of the hair. Spray with a flexible hold hairspray to lock in the style.
Here are some of my favorite hair products:
"Not too greasy, very hydrating, and the scent is to die for."
This hair oil is from a local business near me and all of their stuff smells so good!
"Ok first of all, this smells amazing! I couldn’t stop sniffing my own hair for two days straight LOL. That aside, it does a great job of maintaining a style."
My favorite thing is when my hair smells good and lasts all day! Anything Drybar is always amazing!
"Never had a better brush. It is so well made."
A bristle brush is the best for brushing out curls! This will help you get Elle Woods waves.
Have you guys tried these Elle Woods curls? They're honestly so easy to achieve with some hot rollers and 20 minutes of your day!
